JCHD FLU EXERCISE
Every year the Jefferson County Health Department uses flu season to practice their emergency response skills and sets up a clinic for this purpose. We encourage the public to attend this flu clinic and get their flu shot without any wait time. Make sure to mark your calendar for October 11, 2011. Jefferson County Health Department will shut down all other services for that afternoon to give flu shots from 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm. All nurses will be available and ready to give your flu shot and get you on your way. Getting a flu shot each fall before the flu season hits is especially important if you’re in a high risk group.
Director of Nursing, Becky Brooks states, “This is the quickest way to get your flu shot without having to wait due to all staff participating in this exercise.”
The cost of the flu shot is $26. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check, Medicare Part B only and Medicaid for children 18 years and younger or adults with prescription and valid diagnosis from a health care provider. Children 18 years and younger who have a current medical card may get a flu shot without a prescription. Adults who receive a medical card must bring their current medical card, a prescription from their health care provider with a valid diagnosis and then Medicaid will cover the cost of the flu shot.
After October 11th, flu shots will be available during normal business hours. For more information, contact the Jefferson County Health Department at 244-7134.
