Jefferson County Health Department Releases 2011 Seasonal Flu Clinic Schedule
Mt. Vernon- Jefferson County Health Department has received seasonal flu vaccine and will begin vaccination clinics on Monday, October 3, 2011. Flu shots will be available for children and adults. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual seasonal flu shots for everyone age 6 months and older. Although recommended for everyone, seasonal flu shots are especially important for the very young and senior citizens, as well as anyone with chronic underlying health conditions.
The cost of the flu shot will be $26. The health department accepts Medicare Part B, the Illinois Public Aid medical card, cash or check for flu shots. For those with Medicare Part B, please bring your red, white and blue Medicare card with you to the flu clinic.
Flu shots are available during normal business hours at the health department as follows:
Monday 8:30 am – 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Tuesday 8:30 am – 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Wednesday 9:00 am – 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Thursday (1st & 3rd) 8:30 am – 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Thursday (2nd & 4th) 10:00 am – 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Friday 8:30 am – 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Additional senior sites for flu clinics are as follows:
October 11th – Roselane (city side) from 10 am – Noon
October 13th - Dix Rome Meadows from 10 am – Noon
October 18th - Ina Community Building from 10 am – Noon
October 21st – Bonnie Community Building from 10 am – Noon
October 28th – Roselane (county side) 10 am – Noon
The health department will be closed on October 10th for Columbus Day. To reduce the spread of the flu, get vaccinated and remember the flu ends with U. For more information call the health department at 618-244-7134.
