SPRINGFIELD – Illinois
Department of Public Health Director Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck would like to reassure
Illinoisans during this Ebola outbreak.
“We
understand there is anxiety surrounding Ebola, but we want to assure the public
the Illinois Department of Public Health continues to work with hospitals,
local health departments and the CDC to monitor for any potential cases of
Ebola in Illinois.
“People
will continue to travel in and out of Illinois and we expect to see rumors and
concerns, but without testing, these are just rumors. There have been no
reports or questions in Illinois that have led to Ebola testing for suspected
cases.
“Illness
after travel is not uncommon, and we will take swift and appropriate action for
anyone who meets the criteria for testing.
“We
have a strong public health system in Illinois that is taking all necessary
precautions and we will provide information to the public about any potential
Illinois Ebola cases.”
