Mt. Vernon- Health Department to Host Community Meeting

The Jefferson County Health Department will be conducting a community awareness meeting on Monday, March 12th, highlighting the services offered at the health department.  JCHD employees will  set up display tables and do short presentations on various programs available.

JCHD management staff will also discuss volunteer opportunities for  county emergency preparedness.  Visit nationalservice.gov for more information on volunteering.  This time of year, being prepared for extreme weather is extremely important as severe thunderstorms and tornado activity increase with warmer weather.  

Other local agencies will be offering various opportunities for volunteers to strengthen preparedness.  Individuals attending will be given personal emergency care handouts.  Go to ready.gov to view handouts.

The meeting will be held at the Rolland Lewis Building at Veterans Park in Mt. Vernon from 6-8 pm.
